About Blue Springs Boat Dock

HOW DID BLUE SPRINGS START?

Blue Springs Boat Dock took root in one of the coves along Norris Lake’s northeast arm, in the hollows and coves where small communities grew up around the water — fishing families, summer regulars, and locals who simply never wanted to leave. It is tucked off Blue Springs Hollow Road in Speedwell, Tennessee, in a quiet corner of the lake far removed from the busier stretches to the south. From early on, the marina became a family-oriented gathering place — a quiet, relaxing destination where people came to rent a pontoon, moor their houseboat for the season, or hook up an RV right on the waterfront. The ship store stocked live bait and cold drinks, and regulars knew the dock by name, many coming back year after year, season after season.

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN OPERATING?

Norris Lake was created as part of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s first-ever dam project, built on the Clinch River beginning in 1933 and completed in March 1936. In the decades that followed, small communities developed along the lake’s northeast arm, where Blue Springs Boat Dock became an established part of that environment. It has served fishing families, summer regulars, and locals for generations, with many returning year after year, season after season. Today, the marina continues to operate as a full-service facility, and in 2024, a new ownership team acquired the property with a renewed vision for its future.

WHAT’S THE PHILOSOPHY?

When the current ownership team acquired Blue Springs Boat Dock in 2024, they came in with a clear vision: honor what made this place special while investing in the infrastructure, the experience, and the community that calls Blue Springs home. The marina remains a quiet, relaxing, family-oriented destination, rooted in tradition while continuing to grow. With Norris Lake ranked the 4th best and cleanest lake in the entire country by USA Today in 2024, the philosophy extends to preserving the character of the lake and the experience it offers. Whether for longtime slip holders who have been coming for decades or first-time visitors discovering it for the first time, the goal is to ensure that the best days on this lake are still ahead.
